Customers who order takeout or delivery still expect a standard of quality that they associate with your business when they dine in. Of course this applies to the food–customers want food to still be warm and presentable when it’s delivered–but it also applies to all interactions with the business. Making all touchpoints with your business appear as safe, convenient and pleasant as possible maintains the standard of quality customers expect from you.
Connect Well
Touchpoints extend online now as well. Share a video on social media explaining your carry-out order policies. Don’t worry about recording it on your phone; customers aren’t expecting cinematic masterpieces right now. The quality comes from the connection you make with your customers. Maybe even include a hand-written note on orders thanking customers for their continued business! You may not be connecting with them face-to-face in your dining room, but there’s a lot you can do to maintain that relationship.
Restaurants are not perfect for social distancing. They’re places where we want to connect, be close to our loved ones, support our neighbors, and share meals. That time will return, but for now you can still connect people through delicious food! Just make sure your delivery and pickup services maximize the convenience, safety, and quality of every customer interaction with your restaurant.
